1976 Judgement of Paris

Today commemorates the 1976 Judgement Of Paris, where two California wines beat the best French wine in a double blind tasting. Wines from the two winners, Chateau Monetelena and Stags Leap Wine Cellars are the only wines on display at the Smithsonian. Here’s a bottle of the original Napa Valley Chardonnay that won that year.
